The Department of Sanskrit offers both undergraduate (B.A.) and postgraduate (M.A.) programmes, designed to provide students with a deep understanding of Sanskrit studies, while evolving with the changing academic landscape. It has a distinguished history of producing scholars who occupy significant positions in prestigious institutions both in India and abroad. The department’s curriculum encompasses a variety of specialized fields within Sanskrit studies, including: 1. Sanskrit Literature: Students delve into literature from different historical periods and genres. This allows them to explore literary movements, authorial styles, and the socio-cultural contexts in which these works were created. 2. Language and Linguistics: Courses within this area focus on the structure of the Sanskrit language, linguistics, and grammar, providing students with a solid understanding of how the language works on a structural and functional level. 3. Each programme accommodates 32 students in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
